Original 16x20” mixed media painting on board representing a modern take on the Greek mythology figure of Ariadne. Princess Ariadne is best known for helping Theseus defeat the Minotaur in the Labyrinth by giving him a ball of red thread to help him navigate through the maze. After his success, Theseus promptly abandoned Ariadne on an island. My painting imagines Ariadne as she might have been had her life not been defined by a man the likes of Theseus.
